Lorenzo Alexander received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and Technology from Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University in 1977 and his Masters from the Florida State University in Urban and Regional Planning.  Mr. Alexander has served over 25 years within FDOT, District Two in Tallahassee, Florida, until his retirement in June 2008.
 
Mr. Alexander  has work experience in various areas of transportation, which include roadway construction inspection and management, roadway surveying and measurements, roadway design and maintenance, traffic operations, public transportation program and grant management, data collection and analysis. Also, he has work experience with the analysis and planning of transportation networks and modeling for major urbanized areas, analysis and management of transportation corridor studies, and transit studies.
 
Mr. Alexander served as the District Public Transportation Manager of an eighteen county region of District Two. He was responsible for all Public Transportation activities which included managing programs relating to planning and the improvement of Intermodal and Seaport facilities, developments for Public Airports, development and implementation of Rail Crossing and Signal programs, Railroad Safety programs including Operations, Crossing Signal, and Motive Power & Equipment. He was also responsible for managing State and Federal funded programs for Transit
development and implementation.
 
Mr. Alexander  served as the Manager of the State Seaport Office for eight years. He was responsible for the development and management of the Department’s Seaport and Intermodal programs. He also provided management support for the development and implementation of the Department’s responsibilities to assist Florida’s 14 deepwater ports. Additional responsibilities included the development of polices, and procedures, and quality assurance to support implementation of Seaport, Intermodal, and Freight Planning programs/initiatives.
 
Mr. Alexander and his wife live in Tallahassee, Florida with their two sons.
